🎣 The Countdown to Bass Opener in Pennsylvania – and a New Worm That’s Coming With It
By Nathan Hunsicker | Whippin Waters Lure Company
Whether you’re just heading out for a morning trip or making a whole weekend out of it, thousands of anglers across Pennsylvania will be hitting the water next weekend for Opening Day of Bass Season. It’s one of those sacred dates in the fishing calendar – full of tradition, excitement, and just enough unpredictability to keep things interesting.
It’s a little too early to know what the weather will hold, but one thing’s for sure: the water is warming, and the bass will be active. That pre-spawn/post-spawn zone in mid-June is often when the real magic happens – aggressive strikes, shallow water explosions, and the chance to tangle with a big one.
Like many of you, I find myself flipping through the Bass Pro Shops catalog, circling new lures like it’s a holiday wish list. There’s always that hope of finding the bait – the one that gives you the edge, that pulls fish when nothing else does.
But this year, I’m flipping the script.
🪱 Introducing the Predator Worm
Instead of ordering something new, I decided to make my own. It’s called the Predator Worm, and it’s my take on what happens when a creature bait and a Senko-style worm have a wild child. Designed for versatility and action, it’s made to tempt bass in any condition – whether you’re flipping, dragging, or dead-sticking.
I’m currently in a race against time to get the mold finalized and the first batch poured before opening day. It’s stressful, but the kind of stress that fuels creativity – and I’m convinced the Predator Worm is going to turn heads (and bend rods).
🌑 Also Coming Soon: The “Nasty Nightcrawler”
We’re also getting ready to release another new bait: the Nasty Nightcrawler. Without spoiling the surprise, I’ll just say it’s not your average finesse worm. It’s got movement, subtle flash, and a lifelike presence that’s going to make it a must-have in every serious bass angler’s tackle box.
